Points of interest

Bike tour Ischia with irentbike.com

Ischia: is the perfect place to switch off from daily commitments and dedicate yourself to your relax.

An enchanting casket of some of the most beautiful natural wonders of the Tyrrenian sea.

It is the largest island belonging to the archipelago of the Flegree islands. Located at the northern end of the Gulf of Naples and not far from the islands of Procida and Vivara, in the Tyrrhenian Sea. After Sicily and Sardinia, it is the third most populous Italian island. It is a tourist attraction because of its sea, the thermal waters, the majestic Aragonese Castle and the Giardini la Mortella. It has volcanic origin, it was formed following eruptions.

Lacco Ameno: is an enchanting village located in the north-west part of the island, extending along the sea and on the first slopes of Mount Epomeo. It borders to the west with Forio and to the east with Casamicciola Terme. It is not the least known. It contains millennia of history, which make it the oldest area. The main attraction of the town, in addition to the charming old town, is the Negombo spa complex, characteristic for the many pools and saunas.

Serrara Fontana: municipalty of Ischia that boasts several records: it is the least populous of the six municipalties of Ischia, but it is the highest. It is also the only town in the island that extends from the sea with the village of Sant'Angelo to the highest peak of the island where there is a wonderful forest called "falanga". It borders to the north by the town of Casamicciola, on the west by the municipality

of Forio, and to the east with the town of Barano. Sant'Angelo is located in the south, and it is also the southernmost point of the whole island.

Don't miss: Belvedere.  the little square balcony of the town, precisely in the town of Serrara. From which you can enjoy a truly unique view of the villages of Sant'Angelo and Succhivo, Panza; with the possibility (depending on weather conditions) to see the island of Ventotene.

  • Less famous, perhaps because more hidden, is the Fontana square. Even from here you can enjoy a privileged view of the municipalities of Barano d'Ischia, Ischia and the Gulf of Naples with the islands of Vivara and Procida.

  • Driving along the trail that starts from the Fontana square, you can reach the top of Mount Epomeo and visit the Church of St. Nicholas with annexed hermitage. Through the latter, a few steps made by a tuff rock outcrop provide access to a small station from which enjoy a view over the Bay of Naples.

Castello Aragonese: an imposing fortification built on the so-called "stagnation dome", a sort of bubble of magma that has consolidated during eruption. Connected to the ancient village of Celsa, through Ischia Ponte. Thanks to Alfonso v of Aragon, the castle is accessed by a tunnel, dug into the rock, illuminated. You get to a mule track that winds out in the open, leading to the summit of the island. From here there are smaller paths that lead to different buildings and magnificent gardens.
